~ Kyle Rodgers ~

 

I am 14 years old on December 30.  Some people blame my mother for doing such a terrible thing as having a ski jumper before January 1st!!   I live in Mahtowa and attends 8th grade at Barnum High School.  Mahtowa is located 20 miles from Cloquet, 40 miles from Duluth, and 70 miles from Coleraine.  It is in the middle of nowhere.  I live on a large farm with my family:  Mom, Dad, Collin.19; Caitlan and Claire who are 12.  We have beef cows, chickens, a horse, a large herd of cats, and one dog, Minnie.   I enjoy ski jumping the most, I also love football and have played since 4th grade.  The Green Bay Packers are my favorite team.

I am also involved in 4-H, showing Dairy cattle at the County and State Fair. My favorite cow is Irish Red.  I enjoy music, hunting, and being outside.   I was 10 years old when I asked about ski jumping the first time.  I was always jumping off the snow banks with my cross country skis.  I said I “wanted to jump off one of those ramps.”  I had seen the jumps in Cloquet, so began our ski jumping adventures.  I now train in Coleraine.   I thank my parents for their dedication to me and my sport.  I further thank all who have helped me to become the skier and person I am now and hope to become.   Kyle Rodgers Itasca Ski and Outing Club
